The Republic of Moldova is a small country in the south east of Europe, which borders to Ukraine in the east, and to Romania in the west. It is not seldom possible to hear about our country as “Sunny Moldova”. Our country is very picturesque and sunny with green hills, quiet lakes and huge fields – All of them with their original charm. And Pushkin, the famous Russian poet was here in “Prison”. Here he wrote verses about gypsies. Afterwards Russian people began to call Moldavian people gypsies, which on the origin has nothing to do with them. Today people all over the world know Moldavan gastarbeiters. And today these two categories - gypsies and gastarbeiters - are somehow similar. Both leave their native territories. Our citizens have no other choice than to abandon their homes in order to construct a stable future. Moldova at present is being characterizted by the lowest standard of living in the whole of Europe, mass unemployment and emigration to other countries, searching for a good life. Most vulnerable are elderly people, children and the youth, who had been switched off from public life for years during the transitive period. It is possible to speak of Moldova as a Moldavan Ghetto. While genocide of the local people is not a national attribute, there is economic genocide, which can lead to a dangerous social explosion. The given project `The Moldovan Song` is some kind of song about Moldovan gastarbeiters. Today the majority of citizens want to leave the country. While 10-15 years ago people were leaving to a national attribute, today the citizens abandon Moldova because of the economic instability of the country.
